Release of Student Information

Student records

Educational records are maintained by the Records Office located in Menard Hall. In accordance with the college policy and state and federal regulations, student records are maintained in a manner that protects the privacy of students and provides eligible students access to the information recorded.

Privacy act

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (PL 93-380) protects the privacy of student education records. Students have the following rights: 

Right to review records

Students may inspect and review their education records within 45 days after the college receives their request. 

Right to request corrections

Students may ask the college to correct records they believe are inaccurate or misleading. 

Right to control disclosure

Students have the right to give written consent before their personal information is shared. FERPA allows some disclosures without consent. For example, information may be shared with college officials who have a legitimate educational interest, and officials from a K鈥12 school district the student graduated from (if applicable), when they have a legitimate educational interest. The college may also share education records without consent with officials from another school where a student seeks or plans to enroll. 

Right to file a complaint

Students may file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education if they believe the college did not follow FERPA requirements.

Public directory information

One provision of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act requires educational institutions to allow students who are currently enrolled to suppress certain information regarded as "Directory Information". LLCC defines directory information as name, address, telephone number, dates of attendance, year in school, previous institution(s) attended, major field of study, awards, honors, degrees earned, past and present participation in officially recognized sports and activities, physical factors (height, weight of athletes), date of birth.

Under provisions of the 1996 Solomon Amendment 麻豆直播 is required to release, upon request, directory information to recruiters of the United States Military.

Under the provisions of the Family and Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974, you have the right to withhold the disclosure of the 鈥淒irectory Information鈥 to any entity outside LLCC.

  1. From the menu, click on "User Options."
  2. Select "."
  3. On the Release page, select "Add Person/Relationship" to add a release, or check the "Deny access to All" box to withhold disclosure.
  4. Optional PIN: You can set a PIN for added security. If you choose to use one, make sure the person you're granting access to knows it. We'll require it to release any information.
