LLCC Choir and Band to perform spring concerts

SPRINGFIELD — The 鶹ֱ Choir and Band invite the public to upcoming free concerts on the LLCC-Springfield campus, 5250 Shepherd Rd., and in the community.

The LLCC Choir will present a joint concert, “Fly & Shine” on Friday, May 1 at 1 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons. The choir concert, directed by Dr.See Tsai Chan, adjunct professor of music, will feature music in various styles, including gospel, spirituals, musical theatre, classical works and more. Soloists include Zaiden Cormier of Springfield, Marianna Curtis of Pawnee, Dawon Drew of Springfield, Emily Webber of Auburn, Sarah Ferris of Springfield, Jaydn Margaron of Mechanicsburg, Hunter Pierce of Dawson, Evelyn Vinzant of Chatham and Amara Kochanowski of Springfield on the violin.

LLCC’s Choir and UIS Choir also have upcoming performances in the community. A combined concert will take place Friday, May 1, at 7 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Springfield.

The LLCC Student Honors Recital will take place Wednesday, April 29, at 7 p.m.in Menard Hall, Room 2250.

The LLCC Jazz Band, directed by Jason Waddell, professor of music, will present its final concert Monday, May 4m at 7 p.m. in A. Lincoln Commons. The concert will feature vocalist Piper Chase, of Springfield, on several jazz standards including “All of Me,” “Cheek to Cheek,” “This Masquerade,” “Feelin’ Good,” “September” and more. Jazz soloists will include Matthew Wood of Springfield, Kelly Wells of Decatur, Mira Ivy of Springfield, Brook Ladage of Auburn, Jae Delgado of Rochester, Cole Boatman of Springfield and Clay Higginson of Springfield.
